Brandy & Rob's Wedding

This summer Louis Guerra Design LLC had the pleasure of designing unique and creative decor for Brandy & Rob's special day. The intimate ceremony and reception were held at the Trump Soho hotel in downtown Manhattan.

The bride wanted to honor her Asian heritage by incorporating flowers in shades of red, the color of celebration in her culture. Her fondness of roses and orchids were featured prominently.

The bride's bouquet was designed with an abundance of red roses in different shades and varieties including standard, spray and garden roses. The bouquet was accented with hosta leaves and satin ribbon to complement her dress.

The ceremony space was defined with two large and dramatic arrangements of fresh bamboo, red roses, red Mokara orchids, red Aranthera orchids and Monstera leaves. The aisle was lined with red rose petals.

The reception, held in the penthouse with amazing views of down town, featured tall Asian inspired centerpieces designed in "bento boxes" that reflected the design of the ceremony.

South Beach on the Jersey Shore

In early May, Louis Guerra Design transformed the ball rooms at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey into a South Beach inspired Bat Mitzvah. The family's love of the beach and a desire for a modern design was our inspiration.

We started in the children's lounge area where we created four custom covered blue and white striped cabana tents, each for a different entertainment activity. To complement the look we added square dining tables with white washed chairs and white leather benches.

The focal point of party in the grand ball room were the two framed and upholstered platform beds draped with sheer white fabric reminiscence of the draping at the Delano Hotel in Miami's South Beach.

Each bed was accented with custom made throw pillows in monochromatic shades of blue and turquoise and ocean inspired patterns.

Next we added a combination of square and tall rectangle tables covered with turquoise linens with blue and white striped overlays along with white stools and chairs. The tables were accented with arrangements of blue hydrangea and delphinium and candles floating in turquoise water. The room was up lighted in soft pink, the bat mitzvah girl's favorite color.

Lastly as the sun started to set we added a collection of illuminated tables and white leather lounge furniture to complete the look.

Modern "Green" Bar Mitzvah Kiddush

This past spring we were presented with a challenge from a client, design her son's Bar Mitzvah kiddush in a clean modern style that would also be environmentally friendly . We started by using a natural fiber textured linen in shades of grey and white to cover the long tables accompanied with modern chairs and stools.

Next we lined the center of each table with a selection of white spring bulb plants that included hyacinth, tulips and paper whites planted in sleek stainless steel rectangle and cube containers along with trays of wheat grass.

Each table arrangement was accented with square glass vases of customs M & M's in monochromatic shades of gray.

After the event the flowering arrangements were planted in the client's garden to be enjoyed for years to come.

A Christmas Twist

Louis Guerra Design was presented with a challenge this past holiday season; decorate an entry foyer staircase banister in a traditional home without using the traditional Christmas colors of green and red.

The hallway wallpaper color of yellow was our inspiration. The result, Christmas with a twist of lemons. We swaged a faux garland decorated with German yellow glass lemon ornaments, gold velvet poinsettias, lime green glass ball ornaments and antique gold ribbon. The challenge was met with an elegant non-traditional garland with a twist.

White Christmas

It was a White Christmas at an elegant estate in northern New Jersey. The living room's classic architecture and soft color theme of ivory and gold was our design inspiration.

We decided to complement the fireplace mantle with a realistic faux garland decorated with white Magnolia Grandiflora flowers, gold glass ornaments, pinecones, green velvet leaves, crystals and ribbons.

We anchored each side of the mantle with glass hurricanes and gold pillar candles. The end result was an elegant mantle.

Christmas Time

It's was Christmas time again and Louis Guerra Design had the pleasure once again of decorating this prestigious golf club in New Jersey. The club's traditional tudor architecture set the tone for the decor.

We started in the main lobby where we decorated the staircase banister with faux evergreen garlands accented with red and gold ornaments, pinecones, berries and ribbons.

We continued the decor through out the club with special attention to the dining room where we decorated the fireplace mantle, chandeliers and a 12 foot tree.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

On a beautiful Saturday in late August, Louis Guerra Design LLC had the pleasure of designing wedding decor for a very special wedding at held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The couple, who met at the stadium, were married on the field in the presence of family and friends in front of the home team's dugout.

After the ceremony and cocktail hour, the wedding party and their guests moved into the exclusive Legends restaurant for the reception. To soften the masculine and sporty look of the space, the bride chose a color palette of silver, white and pink and requested lots of candles to create a soft romantic atmosphere.

First the tables were covered with silver shimmer linens and sheer white overlays embroidered with silver thread in a circular pattern. We than placed illuminating centerpieces of pink orchids and calla lilies submerged in tall cylinder vases of various heights on mirror disks to reflect the floating and votive candles.

The final touch were the guest favors, customized keepsake baseballs encased in a clear acrylic box. Definitely a night to be remembered!

Baby Blessing Celebration

On a Sunday afternoon in July, Louis Guerra Design worked with Kraft Event Management in decorating a client's back yard in honor of their son's first birthday and blessing ceremony. The party's invitation colors of turquoise, orange, yellow and white provided us with our design inspiration.

The afternoon started with a spiritual blessing ceremony held under a stylized canopy structure of dark brown wood and white linen fabric enhanced with white hydrangea, roses, fragrant gardenias and a white rose petal aisle path.

Guests sat upon bamboo chairs adorned with keepsake birth announcements and white paper fans to help keep cool on a hot sunny day.

The parents, birthday boy, and God parents all wore white orchid leis while the family's beloved pets wore collars of white roses and freesia tied with satin ribbon.

After the ceremony, the guests proceeded into the festively decorated tent for brunch. We incorporated the color inspiration in several ways. First we hung a plethora of colorful paper lanterns in various sizes and a collection of cut outs of the letter "C" representing the baby's first name initial.

We brought the colors down onto the tables through the use of white table linens and custom made patchwork madras table runners. We than placed casual garden inspired arrangements of sunflowers, dahlias, roses, phlox and lysmachia designed in turquoise galvanized pales.

It all made for a fun and very memorable afternoon.

Elegant June Wedding

In early June Louis Guerra Design made a bride's dream of a sophisticated and elegant summer wedding come true at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, New Jersey. The bride chose a traditional color palette of white, ivory and green. To create some drama we added crystals and touches of gold.

We started with the bridal bouquet, a collection of garden roses, peonies, sweet pea and phalaenopsis orchids accented with crystals and tied with double face satin ribbon and crystal studded pins.

The bride's maids, dressed in chocolate brown, carried similar bouquets of white, ivory and green flowers.

It was a beautiful day and the ceremony was held outdoors in front of a peaceful pond where we placed the ceremony structure, a romantic wrought iron chuppah. Not wanting to compete with the natural surroundings, we chose to lightly accent the chuppah white and ivory flowers and soft greenery. A white rose petal aisle completed the look.

Moving indoors to the grand ballroom for the reception, the bride chose to make a statement with dramatic centerpieces. The arrangements of orchids and garden roses featured tall gold manzanita branches from which we hung a collection of assorted crystals and votive candles. At the base of each centerpiece we placed a trio of small cluster bouquets, rose petals and more votive candles.

The final touch was the sweetheart table where we placed a beautiful low and lush arrangement that resembled the bridal bouquet.

Sweet 16 Birthday Party

On June 5th, Louis Guerra Design worked with Kraft Event Management to create a modern night club themed Sweet 16 birthday party at the Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, NJ. The party girl's favorite colors of pink and silver served as our design inspiration.

To turn the ballroom into a night club we darken the windows with black out fabric and than draped the windows with a silver "Liquid Metal" fabric. Than we arranged modern white leather furniture, custom made pillows and illuminated tables to create a lounge.

Next we created two distinct dining areas; one for the adult guests and the other for the party girl's friends. For the adult guest area we chose traditional round tables covered with soft pink linens and than added bright pink sparkle table runners. On each table we placed a beautiful garden inspired floral arrangement and silver votive candles.

For the friends area we did a combination of square and rectangle table at different heights also covered with the same pink linens and runners. We than added fun modern arrangements in square vases and bowls of custom colored M & M's. To complete the look we updated the classic ballroom chair by using modern silver resin reception chairs.

Winter Wonderland Birthday Party

Last month Louis Guerra Design worked with Kraft Event Management to create a "Winter Wonderland" themed event for a client who was celebrating his wife's landmark birthday. A snowflake on the event's Save the Date card was our design inspiration, and we carried this theme throughout all aspects of the event.

We started by projecting giant twirling snowflakes on the facade of the couple's elegant home and, to add to the snowy ambience, we illuminated the walkway with white pillar candles in glass hurricanes.

When the guests entered the home, they were ushered into the two-story family room, which served as the main party space. There they were greeted by more twirling white snowflakes projected onto the room's pale blue walls, as well as a forest of towering white birch trees that we created with actual

branches.

We decorated the trees with glittering silver snowflakes of various sizes and styles, icicles, hanging crystals and live white phalaenopsis orchids. In keeping with our theme, we dusted the bases of the trees in white "snow" and up-lighted the trees in a wintery blue. The trees twinkled with small, white LED lights that we placed in the branches.

We continued the "Winter Wonderland" theme throughout the party space by hanging "curtains" of snowflakes and icicles in the windows.

We rounded out the theme by using silvery linens (called "liquid lame") on all the cocktail tables, which we decorated with antique silver votives and beautiful, lush arrangements of white orchids and dusty miller in soft gray. This complimented the fireplace mantle on which we displayed a lovely assortment of silver candlesticks and several arrangements of white orchids.

The client was very pleased and, judging from the wife's reaction, we think she was too. She told us to expect a call later in the year when her husband celebrates his landmark birthday.
